Create a simple yet hearty breakfast using potatoes, a staple ingredient that’s always on hand. This potato oatmeal is a nutritious and filling meal that’s perfect for busy mornings and picky eaters.
Ingredients- 1 Potato (for 1 child serving; use 2 for 2 servings)
- 30g Oatmeal
- 1 pouch Fruit Puree (choose your child’s favorite)
- 50ml Milk (or water)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare one potato if you’re making a single serving for your child, or two potatoes if you’re serving it to an adult and child, or if your child has a larger appetite. Wash the potatoes thoroughly; you can leave the skin on if you prefer.
Step 2
Place the prepared potato in a steamer basket or a microwave-safe dish. Microwave for 3 minutes. Cooking time may vary slightly depending on your microwave’s power. Ensure the potato is soft enough to be easily mashed.
Step 3
While the potato is cooking, measure out 30g of oatmeal and have one pouch of fruit puree ready. If you don’t have puree, you can also use a ripe fruit blended into a smooth consistency.
Step 4
Carefully remove the cooked potato from the steamer or microwave. Using a fork or a potato masher, mash the potato until it’s smooth and free of lumps. Mashing while it’s still warm will make the process much easier.
Step 5
To the mashed potato, add the 30g of oatmeal, the entire pouch of fruit puree, and 50ml of milk. Stir everything together until well combined. If the mixture seems too thick, you can add a little more milk or water to reach your desired consistency.
Step 6
Mix all the ingredients thoroughly with a spoon until you have a smooth, homogenous mixture. Transfer to a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for another minute. Your delicious and nutritious potato oatmeal mash for your little one is now ready!
