Ingredients- 3 medium potatoes
- 1-2 pieces unsalted butter (approx. 20-30g)
- 1/2 cup milk (120ml)
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Wash the potatoes thoroughly and cut them into 2-3 pieces (leaving the skin on is fine). Place the potato pieces in a pot, cover them with water, and add about 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the potatoes are very tender when pierced with a fork. Ensure they are fully cooked.
Step 2
Drain the cooked potatoes completely. While still warm, carefully peel the skins off. Transfer the warm potatoes to a bowl. Using a fork or a potato masher, mash the potatoes until they are smooth and lump-free. Add the butter pieces to the hot potatoes and mix them in. The residual heat will melt the butter, incorporating it smoothly and adding richness.
Step 3
Once the butter is fully melted and incorporated, add a pinch of salt to season and mix well. Now, it’s time for the milk. Gently warm the milk (do not boil). Gradually add the warm milk, about half a cup, in 2-3 stages, mixing well after each addition. Continue adding milk until you reach your desired creamy consistency. Adjust the amount of milk to achieve a smooth, not-too-runny texture.
