Many people who disliked curry as a child due to bland school cafeteria versions find themselves enjoying delicious curries as adults! This recipe makes it easy to create a wonderfully smooth and flavorful Japanese-style creamy curry rice at home. It’s perfect for special occasions or simply elevating an everyday meal. With simple ingredients and a straightforward cooking process, this creamy curry rice will surely enrich your dining table!
Ingredients- 1/2 Onion
- 2 slices Bacon
- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- Approx. 2 Tbsp Ottogi Curry (Spicy flavor)
- 200ml Milk
- A little Water (for consistency)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, peel and finely chop half an onion. Cut the 2 slices of bacon into bite-sized pieces (about 1-2 cm wide). Prepping the ingredients this way will make the cooking process much smoother.
Step 2
Heat a pan over medium heat with a little cooking oil. Add the minced garlic, chopped onion, and sliced bacon. Sauté them sufficiently until the onions become translucent and the bacon renders its fat and turns golden brown. This step helps to maximize the ingredients’ flavor.
Step 3
Once the ingredients are well sautéed, pour in 200ml of milk and bring it to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat. As the milk starts to warm up, add about 2 tablespoons of Ottogi Curry (spicy flavor), stirring well to prevent lumps. The curry powder will mix with the milk and begin to thicken. At this point, gradually add a small amount of water to achieve your desired consistency. Aim for a creamy texture that coats the back of a spoon, not too thin.
Step 4
Serve the creamy curry generously over a bowl of warm cooked rice. For an optional finishing touch, sprinkle some parsley flakes or sesame seeds on top. Your delicious and visually appealing creamy curry rice is now complete. Enjoy your meal!
