  • 4 Hard-boiled eggs
  • 1 Ripe avocado
  • Strawberry jam (to taste)
  • Salt (a pinch)
  • Black pepper (a pinch)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the key ingredients for your sandwich: 4 hard-boiled eggs and 1 ripe avocado. Ensure your eggs are cooked to a firm, hard-boiled state. If you have children helping in the kitchen, they might offer to peel the eggs! While their enthusiasm is lovely, it can be a little tricky if you want the eggs to look perfect. However, it’s always nice to let them help. Encouraging their participation in cooking can be a wonderful way to build skills and foster a caring nature for the future. Boiling eggs is straightforward: fill a pot with enough water to cover the eggs, add a pinch of salt and a splash of vinegar, and boil until hard-cooked. Immediately rinse the eggs under cold water and let them cool; this helps make peeling much easier. This step might require the most patience for crafting the perfect avocado egg sandwich!

Step 1

Step 2

Place all the hard-boiled eggs into a bowl. Using a fork or a potato masher, gently mash the eggs until they reach a soft, crumbly consistency. It’s nice to leave some small chunks for texture, rather than mashing them into a completely smooth paste.

Step 2

Step 3

Halve the avocado, remove the pit and skin, and add it to the bowl with the mashed eggs. Use your fork to gently mash the avocado together with the eggs, leaving some slight chunks for texture. The goal is to combine them well while retaining a pleasant, varied texture.

Step 3

Step 4

Season the mashed egg and avocado mixture with a pinch of salt and black pepper, adjusting to your personal taste. If the mixture feels a bit too dry or stiff, you can add about half a tablespoon of mayonnaise. This will make the filling even creamier and more flavorful, and it helps bind the ingredients together, making it easier to spread inside the sandwich.

Step 4

Step 5

Now, let’s assemble these delicious sandwiches! Take your croissants and carefully slice them in half horizontally. A tip is to slice them almost all the way through, leaving one edge connected so they open up like a book. Spread a thin layer of strawberry jam on the inside of each croissant half, according to your preference. Then, generously spoon the prepared avocado and egg mixture into the bottom half of each croissant. We made three sandwiches this way. For the children’s sandwiches, we only used strawberry jam. For my own, I added a layer of cream cheese on one side and strawberry jam on the other for an extra burst of flavor! You can also use soft rolls or sliced bread instead of croissants if you like.

Step 5

Step 6

Your fresh and delicious Avocado Egg Sandwich is complete! Savor the perfect combination of flaky croissants, creamy avocado, and tender eggs. This simple preparation offers a wonderfully satisfying meal.
