Crab Stick Half-Moon Tortilla
Super Easy Diet Snack! ‘Crab Stick Half-Moon Tortilla’ Recipe
Introducing the simple and delicious ‘Crab Stick Half-Moon Tortilla’ recipe. The golden-brown tortilla combined with the soft filling is a flavor everyone will love. It’s perfect as a snack when you’re peckish, or even as a light meal. You can substitute crab sticks with ham, or use chicken breast if you’re on a diet. If you don’t have tomato sauce, ketchup works just fine too. This dish is appealing because it’s quick and easy to make without complicated steps.
Basic Ingredients
- 1 Tortilla
- 2 Crab sticks
- 1 Egg
- 1 Tbsp Tomato sauce
- 1 Tbsp Cooking oil
- 1/8 Onion
- 3 Tbsp Cheese (e.g., Mozzarella or your preferred cheese)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, finely mince 1/8 of an onion. You can use a mandoline or a knife for mincing. The finer the vegetables are minced, the smoother the filling will be.
Step 2
Shred the 2 crab sticks along their natural fiber. It’s best to shred them into pieces that still have some texture, rather than mincing them too finely, to enhance the mouthfeel.
Step 3
In a bowl, combine the shredded crab sticks and minced onion. Add 1 tablespoon of tomato sauce and mix thoroughly until the crab sticks and onion are well coated with the sauce.
Step 4
Heat a non-stick pan over medium-low heat and add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil, spreading it evenly. Once the pan is sufficiently heated, the egg will cook beautifully without burning.
Step 5
Once the pan is hot, carefully crack 1 egg into it. Break the yolk and spread it thinly and thinly into a round shape to cover the pan. Think of it as making an egg crepe.
Step 6
When the egg starts to cook and the egg white is mostly set (more than halfway cooked), carefully place 1 tortilla on top of the egg. This helps the tortilla adhere well to the egg.
Step 7
After placing the tortilla, gently press down with a spatula. This will help the tortilla and egg stick together and allow the bottom of the tortilla to start browning as it touches the pan. Wait a moment for the egg side to cook well on the bottom.
Step 8
Once the bottom is golden brown, carefully flip the pan, ensuring the tortilla and egg don’t separate. The egg side will now be facing upwards.
Step 9
On the flipped tortilla side, spread the crab stick and onion mixture evenly over only half of the tortilla. We are creating a half-moon shape, so fill only one side.
Step 10
Generously sprinkle 3 tablespoons of shredded cheese over the crab stick mixture. You can use any type of cheese, but using a good melting cheese will make it even tastier.
Step 11
Lift the empty half of the tortilla and fold it over the side with the crab stick and cheese filling to create a half-moon shape. Tuck it in well to prevent the filling from spilling out.
Step 12
Cook over low heat until the tortilla is golden brown and slightly crispy on the outside, and the cheese inside is fully melted. Gently press down with a spatula while cooking to ensure even heat distribution.
Step 13
Once both sides are a beautiful golden brown and the cheese is gooey and melted, it’s ready. Carefully remove from the pan.
Step 14
Cut the finished half-moon tortilla into desired serving sizes. I found it easiest to use kitchen scissors for cutting.
Step 15
Enjoy this incredibly delicious snack while it’s warm! The contrast of the crispy exterior, tender interior, creamy crab filling, and melted cheese is simply divine!
