Crispy and Delicious Crab Stick, Fish Cake, and Perilla Leaf Pancakes
We’ve made incredibly simple pancakes! This recipe is so easy to make and tastes delicious even without any additional seasoning or salt, allowing the natural flavors of the ingredients to shine. Perfect for a quick snack or appetizer!
Main Ingredients- 2 sheets of square fish cake
- 12 sticks of imitation crab meat (Crab-stick)
- 6 fresh perilla leaves
- 1 fresh egg
- 3 Tbsp cooking oil (generous amount)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash the perilla leaves thoroughly and pat them dry. Cut each leaf in half. Then, cut the square fish cakes into strips roughly the same length as the imitation crab sticks.
Step 2
In a bowl, crack one egg and whisk it gently with a fork or whisk until well beaten and smooth. This will be your egg wash.
Step 3
Lay one half of a perilla leaf flat. Place a piece of fish cake and a crab stick on top of it. Then, cover with another half of a perilla leaf. Carefully roll them up together. If the leaves don’t stick well, you can secure them gently with a toothpick.
Step 4
Dip each rolled perilla leaf bundle into the beaten egg, ensuring it’s evenly coated on all sides. Let any excess egg drip off.
Step 5
Heat about 3 tablespoons of cooking oil in a non-stick pan over medium-low heat. Carefully place the egg-coated rolls into the hot oil, seam-side down (where the end of the roll is) to help them stay sealed while cooking.
Step 6
Continue to pan-fry over medium-low heat, turning occasionally, until all sides are golden brown and crispy. This ensures the pancake is cooked through and has a delightful texture. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious homemade pancakes!
