Main Ingredients
  • 12 sheets square aburaage (for sushi)
  • 1 bowl of rice (warm rice)
  • 1/4 carrot (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 onion (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 zucchini (finely chopped)
  • 1 Tbsp cooking oil

Crab Stick Salad Ingredients
  • 75g canned tuna (drained)
  • 1 Tbsp chopped pickles
  • 2 Tbsp mayonnaise
  • Pinch of black pepper (to taste)
  • 2 crab sticks (shredded finely)
  • 1/4 cucumber (thinly julienned)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, thinly julienne the cucumber. Place the julienned cucumber in a bowl, sprinkle with a little salt, and let it sit for about 10 minutes to draw out moisture. Squeezing out the excess water is key to prevent the salad from becoming watery.

Step 2

Finely chop the carrot, onion, and zucchini. Heat 1 Tbsp of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the chopped vegetables and stir-fry until they become translucent. It’s best to cook them slightly so they retain a bit of texture.

Step 3

Once the vegetables are stir-fried, let them cool slightly, then mix them with 1 bowl of warm rice. Gently mix with a spatula to ensure the rice grains don’t clump together.

Step 4

Now it’s time to make the crab stick salad. In a bowl, combine the squeezed cucumber, finely shredded crab sticks, and chopped pickles.

Step 5

Add the drained canned tuna, 2 Tbsp of mayonnaise, and a pinch of black pepper. Mix everything well until evenly combined. Taste and adjust seasoning with more mayonnaise or pepper if needed.

Step 6

Prepare the square aburaage for sushi by unfolding it along the pre-cut side. Fill each aburaage pocket with the stir-fried rice mixture prepared in step 2, pressing gently to shape. Be careful not to overfill, as it might burst.

Step 7

Finally, generously top the aburaage sushi prepared in step 5 with the delicious crab stick salad mixture from step 4. Your ‘Crab Stick Aburaage Sushi’ is complete! Enjoy this special sushi that looks as good as it tastes.
