Main Ingredients- 3 frankfurter sausages
- 1/2 yellow bell pepper (finely chopped)
- 1/2 red bell pepper (finely chopped)
- 1/3 zucchini (finely chopped)
- 1/2 pack oyster mushrooms (torn into bite-sized pieces)
- 40g burdock root (finely chopped)
- 1 bowl warm cooked rice
- Pinch of salt
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the vegetables. Wash the yellow and red bell peppers, zucchini, and burdock root thoroughly. Chop them into small, bite-sized pieces suitable for children. Tear the oyster mushrooms into manageable pieces.
Step 2
Heat a little cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped zucchini, bell peppers, burdock root, and oyster mushrooms. Sprinkle a tiny pinch of salt and sauté until the vegetables are just tender and slightly softened. Be careful not to overcook them, as they might release too much water.
Step 3
In a bowl, combine the warm cooked rice with the sautéed vegetables. Add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil for a nutty aroma and flavor. Mix everything thoroughly until well combined. You can skip adding extra salt as the vegetables have been lightly seasoned.
Step 4
Lightly blanch the frankfurter sausages in boiling water to remove excess oil. Thread one sausage onto each skewer, ensuring it’s securely placed in the center.
Step 5
Dust the skewered sausages evenly with a thin layer of all-purpose flour. Gently press the flour onto the sausages to help it adhere. This step ensures the subsequent coatings stick well.
Step 6
Next, mold the fried rice mixture around the floured sausages. Press the rice firmly onto the sausage, shaping it into a compact hot dog form. If the rice is too hot, it might not stick well, so let it cool slightly before molding.
Step 7
Now, coat the entire rice-covered sausage with another layer of all-purpose flour, making sure to get it into all the nooks and crannies. Lightly tap off any excess flour.
Step 8
Dip the flour-coated rice dog into the lightly beaten egg wash, ensuring it’s fully coated. The egg wash helps the breadcrumbs adhere evenly.
Step 9
Finally, generously coat the egg-washed rice dog with breadcrumbs. Press the breadcrumbs firmly to ensure they stick well. A thicker coating of breadcrumbs will result in a crispier texture.
