Colorful Bell Pepper Sausage Fried Rice
How to Make Bell Pepper Fried Rice: Bell Pepper Dishes, Fried Rice Recipes, One-Bowl Meals, Solo Dining Menu
Bell peppers are rich in vitamins, so eating them often is great for your health. I usually buy bell peppers and keep them in the refrigerator, so I always have them on hand. When I don’t feel like making a special meal, fried rice is a quick and delicious way to solve a meal. Today, I made super simple fried rice with bell peppers, green peppers, and sausages. Since I prefer rice over flour-based foods, I often make fried rice. When packed with plenty of vegetables, fried rice not only tastes good but is also good for your health, offering a double benefit. This dish is a perfect example of that!
Basic Ingredients
- 1/4 Red Bell Pepper
- 1/4 Yellow Bell Pepper
- 1/4 Green Bell Pepper
- 1/4 Onion
- 5 cm Carrot
- 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1 Cup Cooked Rice (approx. 1 paper cup)
- 1 Frankfurter Sausage
Seasoning Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Oyster Sauce
- 2 Tbsp Cooking Wine (Mirin)
- 1/2 Tbsp Sugar
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 1/2 Tbsp Sesame Seeds
- 2 Pinches Salt
- 2 Pinches Black Pepper
- 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Oyster Sauce
- 2 Tbsp Cooking Wine (Mirin)
- 1/2 Tbsp Sugar
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 1/2 Tbsp Sesame Seeds
- 2 Pinches Salt
- 2 Pinches Black Pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the vegetables for the fried rice. Finely julienne 1/4 red bell pepper, 1/4 yellow bell pepper, and 1/4 green bell pepper. Also, julienne 1/4 onion and slice a 5 cm piece of carrot into thin strips. Julienne vegetables provide a better texture in fried rice compared to dicing them, and it’s a faster preparation method.
Step 2
Prepare one frankfurter sausage by slicing it into thin rounds. You can substitute the sausage with bacon, ham, or any other protein you prefer.
Step 3
In a small bowl, combine 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp oyster sauce, 2 Tbsp cooking wine (mirin), 1/2 Tbsp sugar, 1 Tbsp sesame oil, and 1/2 Tbsp sesame seeds. Mix well until the seasoning is evenly combined. Preparing the sauce in advance simplifies the cooking process.
Step 4
Heat 1-2 Tbsp cooking oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic and stir-fry until fragrant. Then, add the julienned onion and sauté until it becomes translucent and slightly softened, allowing its sweet aroma to infuse the oil.
Step 5
Add the julienned carrots, red bell pepper, yellow bell pepper, and green bell pepper to the pan. Stir-fry for about 1-2 minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender but still retain some crispness. Season with 2 pinches of salt and 2 pinches of black pepper to enhance the flavor of the vegetables.
Step 6
Add the sliced frankfurter sausage to the pan with the vegetables. Continue to stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until the sausage is lightly browned and slightly crispy, adding a savory element to the dish.
Step 7
Push the vegetables and sausage to one side of the pan. Add 1 cup of cooked rice to the cleared space. Pour the prepared sauce mixture over the rice. Gently break up any clumps of rice with a spatula and stir-fry everything together until the rice is well coated with the sauce and the ingredients are evenly distributed. Cook until the rice grains are separated and slightly toasted.
Step 8
Finally, stir in 1 Tbsp sesame oil and 1/2 Tbsp sesame seeds just before serving (if you already included them in the sauce mixture, you can skip this step). This adds a wonderful nutty aroma. Your vibrant bell pepper and sausage fried rice is ready! The combination of colorful vegetables and savory sausage makes for a delicious and nutritious one-bowl meal. It’s packed with vitamins from the bell peppers and other fresh vegetables, along with protein from the sausage, offering a balanced and satisfying meal. This is a perfect way to get children to eat more vegetables, as the flavors are well-integrated and the texture is appealing!
