Main Ingredients
- 250g Prepared Sea Tangle Ribs
- 1/3 Carrot (julienned)
- 1 Small Onion (julienned)
Seasoning Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp Red Crab Soy Sauce or Korean Soup Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Fish Sauce (or Anchovy Sauce)
- 2 Tbsp Cooking Oil
- 0.5 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- A pinch of Toasted Sesame Seeds
- 2 Tbsp Mirin (Rice Wine)
- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1 Tbsp Red Crab Soy Sauce or Korean Soup Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Fish Sauce (or Anchovy Sauce)
- 2 Tbsp Cooking Oil
- 0.5 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- A pinch of Toasted Sesame Seeds
- 2 Tbsp Mirin (Rice Wine)
- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, rinse the sea tangle ribs thoroughly under running water to remove excess salt. Place them in a colander and soak in water for about 30 minutes to mellow out the saltiness, making them more tender.
Step 2
Bring a pot of water to a boil. Blanch the prepared sea tangle ribs for just about 30 seconds – no longer. Overcooking will make them mushy, so a quick dip is key.
Step 3
Immediately rinse the blanched sea tangle ribs under cold water to cool them down. Then, squeeze out as much water as possible. Cut them into bite-sized pieces, about 5cm long, and set aside.
Step 4
Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of minced garlic and the julienned onion. Sauté until the garlic is fragrant and the onion becomes translucent, infusing the oil with flavor.
Step 5
Next, add the julienned carrots and stir-fry them together with the onions and garlic. Cook until the carrots are slightly tender and their natural sweetness begins to release.
Step 6
When the onions and carrots are about 70% cooked, add all the prepared sea tangle ribs to the pan. Stir-fry everything together, ensuring all ingredients are well combined and coated.
Step 7
Add 2 tablespoons of mirin, 1 tablespoon of red crab soy sauce, and 1 tablespoon of fish sauce. Stir-fry until the seasonings are well distributed and absorbed. Taste and add a little more soy sauce if needed.
Step 8
Finally, drizzle in 0.5 tablespoon of sesame oil and sprinkle generously with toasted sesame seeds to finish. The nutty aroma will add another layer of deliciousness. Enjoy your meal!
