Chewy Seaweed & Chewy Noodles Stir-fry (Kkoshiraegi Jjolmyeon Muchim)
A Delicious Mix of Kkoshiraegi Seaweed and Jjolmyeon Noodles
This recipe features store-bought jjolmyeon noodles mixed with kkoshiraegi, a type of seaweed known for its health benefits, including aiding digestion and relieving constipation. It’s a refreshing and flavorful dish that combines the chewy texture of jjolmyeon with the crispness of seaweed.
Main Ingredients- 3 servings of store-bought Jjolmyeon noodles
- 1 bowl of salted Kkoshiraegi seaweed
- 2 boiled or baked eggs
- A little chopped green onion (optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, thoroughly rinse the salted Kkoshiraegi seaweed multiple times under cold water to remove excess salt. Then, soak it in fresh water for about 5 to 10 minutes. This process helps to mellow out the saltiness and maintain the seaweed’s pleasant texture.
Step 2
Taste the Kkoshiraegi to ensure the saltiness is just right. Drain it well on a colander, ensuring most of the water is removed. Be careful not to soak it for too long, as this can dilute its flavor.
Step 3
Fill a large pot with plenty of water and bring it to a rolling boil. Once boiling, add the store-bought jjolmyeon noodles. Cook according to the package instructions, or until they reach your desired chewy texture. Avoid overcooking to prevent mushiness.
Step 4
Immediately after cooking, rinse the jjolmyeon noodles thoroughly under cold running water to stop the cooking process and enhance their chewy texture. Drain them well in a colander. While the noodles are draining, cut the Kkoshiraegi seaweed into bite-sized pieces, approximately 3-4 cm in length.
Step 5
Now it’s time to mix everything together. Place the drained jjolmyeon noodles and the prepared Kkoshiraegi seaweed into a large mixing bowl. Add the entire packet of store-bought jjolmyeon seasoning sauce. Gently toss and mix everything with your hands until the noodles and seaweed are evenly coated with the sauce. Be careful not to break the noodles if using chopsticks.
Step 6
Transfer the delicious stir-fried noodles and seaweed to a serving bowl. Cut the boiled or baked eggs in half and arrange them on top. Garnish with the chopped green onions, if using, for an even more visually appealing and flavorful dish. Your Kkoshiraegi Jjolmyeon Muchim is now ready to be enjoyed!
