Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the filling ingredients for the rice balls. Cut the sausages into bite-sized pieces that are easy for children to eat (small dice or pea-sized). Finely mince the carrots and scallions so they mix well with the rice and are easy for children to eat. Using mainly the white parts of the scallions will result in less spiciness and more sweetness, making them even better.
Step 2
Heat a pan with a little cooking oil. Add the minced sausage, carrots, and scallions and sauté over low heat, being careful not to burn them. Stir-fry until the vegetables are slightly cooked and the sausage releases some oil, releasing a savory aroma. Stir-frying this way enhances the sweetness of the vegetables and the flavor of the sausage, making them even more delicious.
Step 3
Transfer the sautéed ingredients to a bowl. Add 2 bowls of warm cooked rice. Season with seaweed flakes for added flavor, a pinch of salt to taste, and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil for richness. It’s best to start with a small amount of salt and adjust later to your preference.
Step 4
Using a spatula or spoon, gently mix the rice with all the ingredients and seasonings until evenly combined. It’s important to mix gently so that the rice grains don’t get mashed. Blend everything together smoothly.
Step 5
Scoop out portions of the prepared rice with a spoon and shape them into round rice balls with your hands. You can also use cute animal-shaped molds that kids love, or decorate them by making eyes and a mouth with seaweed to create even more special rice balls. Arrange the finished rice balls on a pretty plate, and your children will surely love them even more! Enjoy your delicious meal!
