Chewy & Refreshing! Healthy Sea Grapes (Kkosiraegi) Salad Recipe
The Ultimate Chewy Texture & Immunity Boost: Super Simple Salted Sea Grapes Salad
I tried making this sea grape dish for the first time, focusing on its health benefits.
Ingredients- Salted Kkosiraegi (Sea Grapes) 1 pack
- Gochugaru (Korean Chili Flakes) 2 Tbsp
- Onion 1/2
- Minced Garlic 1 Tbsp
- Sesame Oil 1 Tbsp
- Sesame Seeds (for garnish) A pinch
- Gochujang (Korean Chili Paste) 2 Tbsp
- Vinegar 1 Tbsp
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients for the salad. You’ll need the salted kkosiraegi, gochugaru, minced garlic, sesame oil, sesame seeds, gochujang, vinegar, and half an onion, which should be thinly sliced.
Step 2
It’s crucial to remove the excess salt from the salted kkosiraegi. First, rinse the kkosiraegi under cold running water once or twice to wash off surface salt. Then, soak them in fresh water for about 20 minutes to thoroughly leach out the saltiness. If the kkosiraegi are still very salty, you can briefly blanch them in boiling water for about 1 minute. After desalting, drain them well in a colander, ensuring all excess water is removed.
Step 3
In a mixing bowl, place the prepared kkosiraegi and cut them into bite-sized pieces. Add the thinly sliced half onion to the bowl. Next, add the minced garlic (1 Tbsp) and gochujang (2 Tbsp). Sprinkle in the gochugaru (2 Tbsp), sesame oil (1 Tbsp), and a pinch of sesame seeds. Gently mix and toss everything together until well combined. Taste the salad, and if you prefer a tangier flavor, add 1 Tbsp of vinegar for a nice, zesty kick.
Step 4
Enjoy the delightful chewy and slightly crunchy texture of the kkosiraegi, reminiscent of the ocean’s fresh flavor. The crisp onion slices complement the kkosiraegi perfectly, and the sweet and spicy dressing ties all the flavors together beautifully. This salad is a fantastic side dish or a healthy addition to your meal plan!
