Easy Air Fryer Baked Eggs: Better Than Stone-Baked Eggs!

Chewy and Savory Baked Eggs (Ggumeun Gyeran) in the Air Fryer

For a delightful snack or a satisfying mid-meal bite, I’ve made some air fryer baked eggs! While I don’t usually eat plain steamed eggs often, I find myself enjoying baked eggs quite a bit. I prefer soft-boiled eggs when steamed, but these fully cooked baked eggs are so delicious on their own, I don’t even need to dip them in salt. They’re incredibly easy to make! This method saves time and effort compared to using a rice cooker. Let’s get started on these delicious baked eggs! When sliced in half, you can see they’re perfectly cooked. I devoured two right after they were done while they were still warm!

Ingredients

  • 10 Eggs
  • Plenty of Coarse Salt
  • 2 Tbsp Vinegar

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, take the eggs out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for at least 1 hour to remove the chill. If you put cold eggs directly into the cooker, they are more likely to crack due to the sudden temperature change. If you’re short on time, you can submerge the eggs in warm water for about 10 minutes to bring them closer to room temperature.

Step 1

Step 2

Place the room-temperature eggs in a bowl and add 2 tablespoons of vinegar. Let them soak for about 5 minutes. This helps to clean and sterilize the eggshell surface. After soaking, gently rub the eggs to clean them without damaging the shells.

Step 2

Step 3

Carefully pat the washed eggs dry with a kitchen towel. Any remaining moisture can cause sputtering during cooking or leave water spots on the shells. Line your air fryer basket with parchment paper and spread a generous layer of coarse salt on top. This salt bed helps the eggs cook evenly and imparts a subtle, almost smoky flavor. Place the dried eggs on top of the salt.

Step 3

Step 4

Place the eggs in the air fryer and set it to 120°C (250°F) for 20 minutes for the first round of cooking. This lower temperature allows the eggs to cook gently and evenly throughout.

Step 4

Step 5

After the first round, carefully remove the eggs and flip them over. Then, continue to cook at 110°C (230°F) for another 20 minutes. Flipping ensures that both sides of the egg are evenly browned. If you prefer a darker, more intense color, you can extend the second round to 30 minutes at 120°C (250°F), or add another 20 minutes at 130°C (265°F).

Step 5

Step 6

Once the baked eggs are done, carefully remove them and rinse them briefly under cool running water. This helps to wash off any residual salt and cools the eggs slightly, enhancing their chewy texture. Your delicious baked eggs are now ready!

Step 6

Step 7

This is truly one of the easiest snack recipes, using the air fryer for baked eggs! It’s so simple to make. When I cut one open, it was perfectly cooked inside. They look appetizing and taste incredibly delicious, far superior to simple steamed eggs.

Step 7

Step 8

I remember buying plenty of ‘stone-baked’ (makbanseok) eggs with friends at the jjimjilbang (Korean sauna) when I lived in Incheon. It’s wonderful that I can now make them comfortably at home.

Step 8

Step 9

These baked eggs are chewy, savory, and utterly delicious. In the past, I used to make them with a rice cooker or pressure cooker, but using the air fryer this time was much easier and the results are fantastic.

Step 9

Step 10

Because they were baked on a bed of salt, they have a subtle flavor that’s so good, I can eat two at a time without needing any extra salt! They’re incredibly satisfying and don’t get tiresome.

Step 10

Step 11

Enjoy making these delicious baked eggs as a snack!
