Super Simple Breakfast: How to Make Delicious Cheese Fried Egg
In a rush on busy mornings and craving a satisfying meal without rice? Inspired by Baek Jong-won’s sesame oil fried egg, we introduce a ‘Cheese Fried Egg’ recipe that offers an even richer flavor with the addition of savory cheese. The cheese, crisped around the edges of the egg, provides a delightful texture that’s both crunchy and tender. Thanks to the naturally salty cheese, you won’t need extra salt, creating a perfect harmony of flavors. It’s a simple yet hearty choice for a delicious breakfast or snack!
Essential Ingredients- 2 fresh eggs
- 1 handful of flavorful shredded pizza cheese (approx. 50g)
- 2 Tbsp minced chives (finely chopped)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Carefully crack two eggs into the pan, ensuring they are not touching each other, perhaps a bit separated to form a pleasing shape.
Step 2
As the egg whites begin to set, gently break the yolks with a fork or chopstick. (Alternatively, you can leave the yolks intact for a runny, sunny-side-up style.) Next, sprinkle the minced chives evenly over the eggs.
Step 3
Once the egg whites are about halfway cooked and the edges are starting to firm up, reduce the heat to low. Now, generously place the shredded pizza cheese over the egg whites and around the edges of the eggs. The key to this recipe is allowing the cheese to melt and crisp up along the edges of the egg.
Step 4
After adding the cheese, immediately cover the pan with a lid. Let it cook on low heat until the cheese is fully melted and gooey. This step allows the cheese’s flavor to infuse into the eggs and contributes to the crispy texture.
Step 5
Lift the lid to check; the cheese clinging to the egg edges should be golden brown and deliciously crispy. When the cheese is crisp, slide a spatula carefully underneath the egg to ensure it releases easily from the pan. This indicates it’s perfectly cooked!
Step 6
Carefully transfer the perfectly cooked cheese fried egg to a serving plate. Finish with a light sprinkle of parsley flakes for an appealing garnish. The natural saltiness of the pizza cheese is usually enough, so you likely won’t need to add any extra salt. Enjoy this delightful dish!
