Cheesy Butter Sweet Potato
Delicious Sweet Potato Snack Inspired by Outback Steakhouse
Sweet potatoes are a quintessential winter snack. Here’s a delightful twist on the classic, inspired by the popular Outback Steakhouse style. This recipe transforms simple baked sweet potatoes into a rich and decadent treat, perfect for cozy evenings.
Sweet Potato Snack Ingredients- 7 medium sweet potatoes
- 2 slices of cheddar cheese
- Butter, to taste
- Honey, a drizzle
- Ground cinnamon, a pinch
- Dried parsley, a pinch (optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Start by baking the sweet potatoes to perfection. Wash them thoroughly and place them in an air fryer set at 200°C (390°F). Bake for 15 minutes, then flip and bake for an additional 5 minutes until tender and fragrant. (If using an oven, bake at 200°C/390°F for 30-40 minutes, or until a fork inserts easily.)
Step 2
Prepare the cheese. Cut each of the 2 slices of cheddar cheese into thin strips or small pieces. This will make it easier to tuck them inside the sweet potato later.
Step 3
While the baked sweet potatoes are still warm, carefully slice them lengthwise, cutting about halfway through. This creates a pocket to hold the delicious fillings. Be gentle to avoid cutting all the way through.
Step 4
Generously add butter to the inside of each opened sweet potato. Let the warmth of the potato begin to melt the butter, creating a rich base.
Step 5
Arrange the pre-cut cheese slices over the butter inside the sweet potato. The cheese will melt beautifully, creating a gooey, savory layer.
Step 6
Drizzle a small amount of honey (about 1/4 teaspoon per sweet potato) over the cheese. This adds a touch of sweetness that complements the savory butter and cheese.
Step 7
Finish with a light sprinkle of ground cinnamon for a warm, aromatic touch. Optionally, add a pinch of dried parsley for a hint of color and freshness. Your delectable Cheesy Butter Sweet Potato is now ready to be enjoyed immediately while warm!
