Ingredients

  • 6 live abalones, cleaned
  • 2 Tbsp minced garlic
  • A little mozzarella cheese (to taste)
  • 3 slices unsalted butter (or 3 Tbsp)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

In a frying pan, melt 3 slices of unsalted butter (or 3 Tbsp) over medium-low heat. Add 2 Tbsp of minced garlic and sauté gently until fragrant. This process will infuse the butter with a wonderful garlic aroma.

Step 1

Step 2

Add 6 cleaned live abalones to the pan. Make sure they are thoroughly cleaned and patted dry. Placing them shell-side down first helps the abalone plump up nicely.

Step 2

Step 3

Sear the abalones over medium heat until they turn golden brown on both sides. Ensure they are evenly coated with the garlic butter sauce. The abalone should look plump and slightly caramelized around the edges.

Step 3

Step 4

Transfer the seared abalones to an oven-safe dish or a dish suitable for your air fryer. Sprinkle a generous amount of mozzarella cheese over the abalones, according to your preference.

Step 4

Step 5

Place the dish in an air fryer (preheating is not necessary) and cook at 200°C (390°F) for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the abalone is cooked through. If using a conventional oven, bake at the same temperature for 10-12 minutes.
