Ingredients- 40 whole garlic cloves
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1.5 Tbsp corn syrup (or rice syrup)
- 2 Tbsp water
- A little cooking oil
- A little sesame seeds

Step 1
Start by preparing the whole garlic. Rinse the garlic cloves thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt or impurities.

Now, here’s the secret to removing the pungent flavor and achieving a texture and sweetness like chestnuts! We’ll lightly steam the whole garlic cloves in a steamer.
Step 3
Cover the steamer with a lid and steam over high heat for about 10 minutes. In the middle of steaming, give the garlic a stir to ensure even cooking. After 10 minutes, turn off the heat and let it sit, covered, for another 5 minutes. The residual heat will finish cooking the garlic perfectly, making it moist inside.

Taste a piece of the steamed garlic. Even without any seasoning yet, you’ll notice a soft, sweet, chestnut-like flavor! This steaming step is crucial for eliminating the raw garlic’s pungency.
