Ingredients- Cabbage 150g
- Cooking oil 1 Tbsp
- Salt a pinch
- Black pepper a pinch
- Coconut milk 15ml
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash the cabbage thoroughly. Remove the tough core and cut the cabbage into bite-sized square pieces, about 2-3 cm. Cutting them too small might cause them to break down too much during cooking, so aim for a consistent, manageable size.
Step 2
Heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the cut cabbage, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of black pepper. Stir-fry gently for about 1-2 minutes, just until the cabbage starts to wilt and become slightly tender. This quick sauté helps retain some of its crispness while softening it.
Step 3
Once the cabbage has softened slightly, pour in 15ml of coconut milk. Stir well to coat the cabbage evenly with the coconut milk. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer gently for another 2-3 minutes, or until the coconut milk has reduced and thickened slightly, coating the cabbage. Be careful not to overcook, as this can diminish the delicate coconut flavor. The braised cabbage is delicious served warm immediately, or chilled after storing in the refrigerator.
