Ingredients

  • Duck slices 500-600g
  • Chives, as much as you like
  • 3-4 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2-3 Tbsp honey

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare your ingredients by slicing the duck slices and fresh chives into bite-sized pieces. Cut the duck into manageable pieces and the chives into about 3-4 cm lengths. Prepping everything in advance will make the cooking process much quicker and tidier.

Step 2

Now, heat a pan over medium heat. Once the pan is sufficiently hot, add the prepared duck slices and quickly sear them just until the surface turns lightly golden brown. The duck will release its own fat, so there’s no need to add extra oil. The key is to bring out the duck’s natural flavors.

Step 3

Once the duck slices are cooked to your liking, carefully remove them from the pan and drain off any excess oil using paper towels. This step ensures a lighter, cleaner taste. Using the same pan (after lightly wiping out the rendered duck fat), add the sliced chives and sauté them just until they wilt slightly. Be careful not to overcook them, as you want to retain some of their crispness.

Step 4

Transfer the wilted chives to a plate temporarily. Return the drained duck slices to the pan. Now, pour in the balsamic vinegar and honey. Stir everything together quickly, ensuring the duck is well coated with the sauce, and cook for another minute until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the duck beautifully. This step infuses the duck with the tangy balsamic and sweet honey flavors.

Step 5

You don’t need to cook this for a long time! Since the duck was already seared, it only needs to be heated through and coated with the glaze. Cook just until the duck is warmed through and coated with the glossy balsamic-honey sauce. Serve immediately, placing the warm duck slices over the wilted chives you set aside earlier. Enjoy the delightful combination of tender duck, tangy-sweet glaze, and fresh chives!
