Baby’s Nutritious and Delicious Pork Patties (Donggeurangttaeng)
[Baby Food Recipe] Nutritious Donggeurangttaeng Packed with Vegetables for Your Little One
Looking for a flavorful pork dish for your toddler over two years old? I wanted to make sure my child enjoyed meat while also getting plenty of vegetables. That’s how I came up with Donggeurangttaeng – savory pork patties mixed with finely chopped veggies! This recipe is perfect for a healthy and tasty addition to your baby’s meals.
Patties Ingredients- Whole wheat flour, 3-4 Tbsp
- Ground pork, 200g
- Small carrot, 1/4 (approx. 30g)
- Small onion, 1/2 (approx. 40g)
- Firm tofu, 1/3 block (approx. 100g)
- 1 Egg
- Cooking oil, for frying
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s start by preparing the ingredients for the patties. Finely dice the carrot and onion. You can also use a blender or food processor for a smoother texture. Drain the tofu thoroughly by pressing it with a fork to remove excess water, then mash it until smooth and lump-free. (If you’re comfortable with knife skills, you can finely chop the vegetables by hand.)
Step 2
Now, let’s make the patty mixture. In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, finely chopped carrot and onion, mashed tofu, 1 egg, and 3-4 tablespoons of whole wheat flour. The whole wheat flour will help bind the mixture and add a nutty flavor. Gently knead and mix everything together with your hands until well combined and a cohesive dough forms.
Step 3
Take portions of the well-mixed dough and shape them into small, flat, round patties. Aim for bite-sized pieces that are easy for your baby to handle. Don’t make them too thick, so they cook through evenly.
Step 4
Heat a frying pan over medium-low heat and add a generous amount of cooking oil. Carefully place the shaped patties into the hot pan. Fry them until golden brown on both sides, turning them occasionally. Be mindful of the heat to prevent burning.
Step 5
This step is optional but adds a lovely texture. For softer patties, you can briefly dip them in beaten egg before placing them in the pan to fry. The photo shows a comparison: one side has patties fried plain, and the other side has patties coated in egg wash. Choose your preference!
Step 6
Once the Donggeurangttaeng patties are golden brown and cooked through on both sides, remove them from the pan and arrange them beautifully on a plate. Your nutritious and delicious baby Donggeurangttaeng is ready! Let them cool slightly before serving to your little one.
