  • 1 large egg

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, thoroughly wash the fresh chives. After removing excess water, finely mince the chives with a knife. Aim for pieces small enough for your baby to easily eat and chew, almost like tiny grains of rice.

Step 2

Crack one fresh egg into a clean bowl. Add all the finely minced chives to the bowl. The vibrant green of the chives mixed with the yellow egg makes for an appealing dish.

Step 3

Using chopsticks or a whisk, gently beat the egg and chives together. Ensure the egg yolk and white are well combined, and the chives are evenly distributed without clumping. A smooth, lump-free egg mixture is key.

Step 4

Lightly coat a heated non-stick pan with a small amount of brown rice oil, spreading it evenly with a paper towel. This prevents the egg from sticking. Pour the prepared chive and egg mixture into the pan. You can adjust the size based on your baby’s preference and the pan size.

Step 5

Crucially, keep the heat on the lowest setting (low heat). Cook slowly and patiently to avoid burning. Wait until the edges of the egg start to turn white and the center is about 70-80% cooked. The surface should still look moist.

Step 6

Once the egg is about 70-80% cooked, carefully flip it using a spatula or chopsticks. Cook the other side on low heat for another 1-2 minutes until the egg is completely done. Be careful not to overcook, as it can become dry. Your golden-brown chive and egg pancake is ready.

Step 7

Transfer the cooked chive and egg pancake from the pan to a clean cutting board. Let it cool slightly for a few minutes before cutting. This helps maintain its shape and prevents it from breaking apart.

Step 8

Cut the pancake into small, manageable pieces suitable for your baby. Consider cutting them into long strips for finger-feeding or into small squares that are easy to pick up. Adjust the size according to your baby’s age and chewing ability.
