Cooking Instructions

Step 1

1. Prepare Donggeurang-ttaeng: Place the 1/2 cup of flour into a resealable bag. Add the store-bought donggeurang-ttaeng and shake gently until evenly coated with a thin layer of flour. This ensures a crispier finish. Next, dip each floured meatball into a bowl of beaten eggs, ensuring each piece is fully coated. Heat a generous amount of vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Carefully place the egg-coated donggeurang-ttaeng into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and cooked through, turning occasionally for even cooking. Avoid high heat to prevent burning.

Step 2

2. Cook Pollock Jeon, Sanjeok Skewers, and Shrimp Tempura: These store-bought items can be quickly prepared according to package directions, often by pan-frying or using an air fryer. For pan-frying, heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the jeon, skewers, and tempura, frying them until golden brown and heated through. Turn them occasionally to ensure even cooking. Be careful not to overcook, as they can become tough. They are ready when crispy on the outside and warm throughout.

Step 2

Step 3

3. Pan-Fry Tofu: Cut the 1/2 block of firm tofu into 3 equal slices, approximately 1.5 cm thick. Pat the tofu slices thoroughly with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This step is crucial for achieving a crispy exterior and preventing the tofu from breaking apart. Lightly season both sides of the tofu slices with salt. Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Place the seasoned tofu slices in the pan and fry until each side is golden brown and beautifully crisp. The result will be delightfully crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

Step 3

Step 4

4. Make Croaker Jeon: Take your cleaned croaker fish. Lightly coat each piece of fish with flour, shaking off any excess. Then, dip the floured fish into a bowl of beaten eggs, ensuring a thorough coating. Heat a sufficient amount of vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-low heat. Carefully place the egg-coated croaker into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy on both sides. Cooking over medium-low heat helps to ensure the fish cooks through and the bones soften.

Step 4

Step 5

5. Steam Fish: Prepare your chosen fish (sea bream, croaker, threadfin, etc.) by cleaning them thoroughly. Fill a steamer pot with water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, arrange the prepared fish on the steamer rack. Cover the pot with a lid and steam for approximately 20 minutes, or until the fish is tender and cooked through. Remove the steamed fish from the pot and sprinkle generously with sesame seeds for a delightful garnish. This results in a moist and elegant steamed fish dish.
