Main Ingredients
- 1 serving cooked rice
- 5 cloves garlic
- 1 egg
- 1/2 stalk green onion
- 30g ham
- 0.5 Tbsp soy sauce
Finishing Seasonings (Optional)
- 0.5 Tbsp sesame oil
- 0.5 Tbsp sesame seeds
- 1 pinch black pepper
- 0.5 Tbsp sesame oil
- 0.5 Tbsp sesame seeds
- 1 pinch black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare all the ingredients for your fried rice. Using warm rice will help it cook up fluffy and prevent clumping.
Step 2
Thinly slice the garlic. Finely mince the ham and green onion. Slicing the green onion thinly will bring out more aroma, and mincing the ham ensures it blends well with the rice.
Step 3
Heat about 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the sliced garlic and minced green onion. Stir them gently to coat them with oil, then turn on the heat to medium. Sauté until the garlic turns golden brown and fragrant, about 30 seconds. Be careful not to burn the garlic; a gentle sauté infuses the oil with delicious garlic flavor.
Step 4
Add the minced ham to the pan and stir-fry for about 10 seconds. The ham will release some of its fat, further enhancing the flavor alongside the garlic and green onions.
Step 5
Add the warm rice to the pan. Use a spatula to break up any clumps and stir-fry for about 5 minutes. Ensure the rice grains are separated and well combined with all the other ingredients for an even flavor distribution.
Step 6
Once the rice is well-fried, drizzle 0.5 tablespoon of soy sauce around the edges of the pan. Let it sizzle for about 10 seconds before mixing it in. This caramelizes the soy sauce slightly, adding a deeper, richer taste.
Step 7
Finally, add the optional finishing seasonings: 0.5 tablespoon of sesame oil, 0.5 tablespoon of sesame seeds, and a pinch of black pepper. These add a wonderful nutty aroma and a final touch of flavor.
Step 8
Turn off the heat and give everything a final stir to combine well. Your delicious garlic fried rice is now ready! For an extra treat, you can top it with a fried egg.
