Flavorful Spring Vegetable Side Dish: Chwinamul Salad with Soy Sauce
Introducing a fragrant Chwinamul salad, capturing the essence of spring. This healthy side dish uses a simple soy sauce seasoning to highlight the natural flavors of the greens.
Main Ingredients- Fresh Chwinamul (Aster scaber) 200g
Seasoning- Korean soup soy sauce 1.5 Tbsp
- Toasted sesame oil 0.5 Tbsp
- Sesame seeds 0.5 Tbsp
- Korean soup soy sauce 1.5 Tbsp
- Toasted sesame oil 0.5 Tbsp
- Sesame seeds 0.5 Tbsp
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
After trimming the chwinamul, blanch it in boiling water with a pinch of coarse salt for about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Be careful not to overcook, as it can become mushy and lose its fragrance.
Step 2
Immediately rinse the blanched chwinamul under cold running water to cool it down. Then, rinse it 2-3 times under running water to remove any raw taste and drain well.
Step 3
Once drained, chop the chwinamul into bite-sized pieces, about 2-3 cuts. Place in a bowl and gently mix with Korean soup soy sauce, sesame oil, and sesame seeds using your hands. If desired, you can add a little minced garlic, but omitting it will result in a cleaner flavor, which is often preferred for this dish.
