Ingredients- 1 cleaned Sea Bream (Tai)
- A pinch of salt
- 2-3 pinches of black pepper
- 2-3 Tbsp Olive Oil (or vegetable oil)
- 4-5 whole Garlic cloves (optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, lightly rinse the prepared sea bream under running water. If the scales are still present, use the back of a knife to scrape them off meticulously from head to tail. Since the scales are large and tough, ensure they are completely removed.
Step 2
If your sea bream is already cleaned, simply trim the fins and remove any remaining small scales around them. Sea bream is a fish with a naturally mild odor, so you don’t need to soak it in rice water or milk; you can proceed directly to cooking for a delicious result.
Step 3
After washing and trimming, pat the sea bream thoroughly dry with paper towels. Ensuring the fish is completely dry is crucial for achieving a crispy skin when air-fried.
Step 4
Next, score the thicker parts of the sea bream’s body with a knife. Make cuts about 2-3 cm apart. These scores will help the seasoning penetrate deeply and ensure the fish cooks evenly.
Step 5
Flip the fish over and make similar scores on the other side. This step ensures the salt penetrates the flesh evenly, enhancing the fish’s natural flavor.
Step 6
Sprinkle salt and pepper evenly over both sides of the scored sea bream. Season generously to your preference.
Step 7
Here’s a tip: using a salt and pepper mix seasoning can simplify this step. After seasoning, let the sea bream rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This allows the salt to penetrate the flesh, ensuring it’s seasoned all the way through and remains moist.
Step 8
After resting for 30 minutes, drizzle 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil (or vegetable oil) evenly over both sides of the sea bream.
Step 9
Use a pastry brush or your hands to evenly coat the entire surface of the fish with the oil. This oil coating helps create a wonderfully crispy skin when cooked in the air fryer.
Step 10
Place the sea bream in the air fryer basket and cook at 190°C (375°F) for 15 minutes.
Step 11
After 15 minutes, carefully remove the sea bream from the air fryer and flip it over. Flipping ensures that both sides cook evenly and become delightfully crisp.
Step 12
This is also a good time to add any accompanying vegetables, like whole garlic cloves. Garlic can burn easily, so it’s best to add it when you flip the fish rather than from the beginning. Place the garlic around the flipped sea bream and continue cooking at 190°C (375°F) for another 15 minutes. Once cooked until golden brown on both sides, your perfectly crispy-on-the-outside, moist-on-the-inside grilled sea bream is ready! Unlike pan-frying, this air fryer method prevents oil splatters and minimizes fishy odors, all while delivering exceptional taste. Sea bream has firm, flavorful flesh that flakes beautifully with chopsticks, making each bite a delight. Even those who don’t typically enjoy fish will appreciate the mild, non-fishy taste of this grilled sea bream. If you’re looking for an easy yet impressive way to cook fish at home, try this air fryer sea bream recipe – it’s simple, delicious, and perfect for any occasion!
