Ingredients

  • 1 pack of square inari sushi pockets (with seasoning packet)
  • 4 Vienna sausages
  • 1 bowl of cooked rice (approx. 200g)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the square inari sushi pockets. Gently squeeze out all the seasoned liquid from the pockets. Then, lay them flat on a cutting board or sushi mat and cut them into long, rectangular strips. Aim for strips that are wide enough to hold the rice filling and sausage when rolled.

Step 1

Step 2

In a bowl, combine the cooked rice with the seasoning packet that came with the inari sushi. Mix gently with a rice paddle or spoon, ensuring the rice grains are not mashed. Make sure the seasoning is evenly distributed throughout the rice.

Step 2

Step 3

Prepare the Vienna sausages for the filling. Place the sausages in boiling water and blanch for about 10 minutes. This helps to remove excess salt and additives, making them more palatable. After blanching, drain them and pat dry with a paper towel. Cut each sausage lengthwise in half, but leave the very end connected if possible, so it forms a gentle curve when placed.

Step 3

Step 4

Now it’s time to assemble the roll inari sushi. Place a prepared inari strip flat. Spread a layer of the seasoned sushi rice evenly over the inari. Place one half of a Vienna sausage along one edge of the rice. Carefully and tightly roll the inari up, enclosing the rice and sausage. Ensure the roll is firm so it doesn’t unravel.

Step 4

Step 5

Once you have rolled the inari sushi, cut each roll in half crosswise. To create the smiley face, pick out black sesame seeds from a seasoning mix. Gently press two black sesame seeds onto the cut surface of each inari roll to form the eyes. Your cute and delicious smile roll inari sushi is now complete and ready to delight!
