Picnic Lunchbox Recipe Series #3: Creating Fun Minions Inari Sushi
Following our previous adorable Minion creations with octopus sausages and quail eggs, this time we’re making irresistible Minions Inari Sushi rolls that will capture everyone’s heart! They’re a delightful addition to any lunchbox, perfect for both kids and adults.
Ingredients- 1 pack of store-bought Inari Sushi kit (includes seasoning packet, vinegar, and toppings)
- 2 bowls of cooked rice (warm)
- 1 sheet of sushi nori (seaweed)
- 1 slice of cheese
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Place 2 bowls of warm cooked rice into a mixing bowl. Add the seasoning and vinegar packet from the Inari Sushi kit and mix well to season the rice. Ensure the rice isn’t too mushy, and mix thoroughly so the flavors are well-infused.
Step 2
When filling the Inari pockets, use only about two-thirds of the usual amount of rice. Overfilling will make it difficult to shape them nicely. Gently gather and pinch the open end of the Inari pocket to create a cute, basic shape for your Minions sushi.
Step 3
Prepare your sushi nori. Using scissors, cut long strips about 0.5 to 0.8 cm wide. These strips will be the signature lines next to the Minions’ eyes. Cut even thinner strips, about 0.1 cm wide. These very thin strips will be used to create the outlines of the eyes and the mouths. For easy eye shapes, using a nori punch is very convenient. After punching out the nori, place it on a slice of cheese. Then, using a knife, carefully cut a circle slightly larger than the punched nori piece from the cheese. This will be the white part of the Minions’ eyes. Next, use the thin 0.1 cm nori strips you prepared earlier to delicately outline these cheese circles.
Step 4
Now it’s time to attach the characteristic stripes next to the Minions’ eyes onto your prepared Inari sushi. Carefully place the long nori strips you cut earlier onto the appropriate positions on the sushi.
Step 5
The back part where you attached the stripes can be finished naturally like this. Gently adhere them, following the curve of the Inari pocket.
Step 6
Once the stripes are around the eyes, it’s time to attach the eyes you made earlier. Minions have various eye expressions, so try attaching two small cute eyes or one larger, more expressive eye to create fun faces.
Step 7
Finally, use the thinly cut nori strips to create the Minions’ mouths. You can make them smile, look surprised, or even angry, creating a variety of expressions.
Step 8
By adding these varied mouth expressions, you’ll complete your adorable Minions Inari Sushi rolls that are guaranteed to bring a smile! They are perfect for picnic lunches or as a fun treat for kids.
