Make Cute Umbrella Chocolates Perfect for Valentine’s Day Gifts
Valentine’s Day is on the 14th! This year, I made some chocolates to give to my siblings. Here’s how to make these perfectly bite-sized umbrella chocolates.
Basic Chocolate Ingredients- 100g Dark Couverture Chocolate
- 200g Milk Couverture Chocolate
Optional (Coating Chocolates for Decoration)- 40g Green Mango Flavored Coating Chocolate
- 40g Strawberry Flavored Coating Chocolate
- 40g Mint Flavored Coating Chocolate
- 40g Green Mango Flavored Coating Chocolate
- 40g Strawberry Flavored Coating Chocolate
- 40g Mint Flavored Coating Chocolate
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the dark and milk couverture chocolates that you’ll use for the main part of the chocolate. Measure and mix the two types of chocolate, then place them together into a zip-top bag, plastic bag, or beaker that’s easy to pipe from. Mixing them like this will give you a rich flavor and smooth texture.
Step 2
Gently melt the chocolates using a double boiler. Place the container with the chocolate over simmering water and stir until the chocolate is smoothly melted without any lumps. If using a microwave, heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between to prevent burning. Be very careful not to let any water get into the chocolate while double-boiling.
Step 3
Once the chocolate is smoothly melted, snip off a small corner of the piping bag or container. This will create a small opening for you to pipe the chocolate.
Step 4
Carefully pour the prepared chocolate into small molds, such as mini mushroom-shaped chocolate molds. Fill the molds evenly to the brim. Then, gently tap the mold on a flat surface a couple of times to remove any air bubbles and create a smooth surface.
Step 5
Immediately after filling the molds, insert lollipop sticks into the center of the chocolate while it’s still liquid. Gently press the stick to ensure it’s secured within the chocolate. Then, place the filled molds in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely firm.
Step 6
Once the chocolates have fully hardened in the refrigerator, carefully remove them from the molds. You can gently twist or shake the mold to help them release smoothly.
Step 7
Now, let’s decorate the chocolate umbrellas to make them even more charming. For the colored coating chocolates (strawberry, mint, green mango flavors, etc.), measure out the amount you need and melt them completely using the double boiler method or the microwave, just as you did with the couverture chocolate. Stir them gently while melting to prevent burning.
Step 8
Using the melted coating chocolates, decorate the top part of the pre-made chocolate umbrellas. Pour the coating chocolate into the molds, filling them about halfway or slightly less. Be mindful of the amount you pour so it doesn’t overflow.
Step 9
Before the coating chocolate sets, carefully take a pre-made chocolate umbrella and insert it into the decorative coating chocolate. Press gently to secure it; avoid pressing too hard, as this can cause the coating chocolate to ooze out the sides. After decorating, place the chocolate umbrellas back in the refrigerator for at least another 30 minutes, until both the coating chocolate and the base chocolate are completely firm.
Step 10
Once removed from the refrigerator, your sweet and adorable umbrella chocolates are complete! Package them up and gift them to your loved ones.
