Homemade Blueberry Jam
Super Simple Homemade Jam Using Frozen Blueberries
I always have frozen blueberries from Costco at home. Since it’s cold in winter, I enjoy them as jam ^^ They are delicious served with cheesecake, yogurt, or scones! It’s healthier than store-bought jam and more convenient than going to the market. Making it at home is easy and saves a trip.
Ingredients- Frozen blueberries 150g
- Sugar 6 Tbsp (approx. 90g)
- Lemon juice 1 Tbsp
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, place 150g of frozen blueberries into a clean bowl. Add all 6 tablespoons (approximately 90g) of sugar to the blueberries. The sugar helps draw out moisture from the berries and thicken the jam.
Step 2
Next, sprinkle 1 tablespoon of lemon juice over the blueberries and sugar. Lemon juice adds a bright, fresh flavor and acts as a natural preservative.
Step 3
Gently mix everything together using a spatula or spoon until the blueberries, sugar, and lemon juice are well combined. Try not to mash the blueberries too much at this stage.
Step 4
Transfer the mixture to a saucepan and place it over medium heat. Stir gently to help dissolve the sugar as it warms up.
Step 5
Once the blueberries start to release their juices, reduce the heat to low. Let the jam simmer gently for 15 to 20 minutes, or until it reaches your desired consistency. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking to the bottom of the pan.
Step 6
When the jam has thickened, remove it from the heat and let it cool completely. Once cooled, spoon the jam into a sterilized glass jar. Store it in the refrigerator and consume within 7 days for the best flavor and quality.
