Hello everyone! Today, I’m sharing a recipe for a beloved snack by children: crispy and sweet candied sweet potatoes. This is my first time posting a recipe, so please bear with me if it’s a bit clumsy. You can easily make this at home, so give it a try!

Main Ingredients

  • 4-5 medium sweet potatoes
  • 4 Tbsp honey
  • A pinch of black sesame seeds (for garnish)

Cooking Instructions

First, peel the sweet potatoes thoroughly. A vegetable peeler works well for this.

Once peeled, cut the sweet potatoes into bite-sized pieces, about 2-3 cm (1 inch) in size. Cutting them too small can cause them to break apart easily, so aim for a moderate size.

Place the cut sweet potatoes in an air fryer basket and bake at 200°C (390°F) for 15 minutes. The cooking time may vary depending on the size of the sweet potatoes and your air fryer model, so check them midway and adjust to achieve a nice golden brown color. This initial baking step helps to firm up the sweet potatoes, giving them a crispy texture even without deep-frying.

As the air frying is nearing completion, pour the 4 tablespoons of honey into a frying pan and heat it over medium-low heat. Slowly simmer the honey, being careful not to let it burn. Gently reducing the honey is key.

Once the honey starts to thicken slightly, add the sweet potatoes from the air fryer and quickly toss them to coat evenly with the honey. Work swiftly to prevent the honey from burning over high heat.
