A Delightful and Easy Meal: Crab Stick Inari Sushi Recipe for Everyone
Inari sushi is a go-to meal, especially during school breaks! But if you’re tired of the same old sushi, let’s spice things up with a generous amount of crab sticks for a unique and delicious meal. The combination of tender crab and sweet, tangy inari sushi is surprisingly delightful. Its creamy texture and rich umami flavor are loved by both kids and adults, transforming plain inari sushi into a more flavorful and even easier-to-make dish. Let’s make #CrabStickInariSushi for your child’s next meal.
Ingredients for Crab Stick Inari Sushi- 3 bowls of cooked rice
- 1 pack (8 sticks) of imitation crab meat (surimi)
- 1 pack (28 pieces) of seasoned fried tofu pouches (inari)
- 4-5 Korean green chili peppers (optional)
- 3 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 2 Tbsp honey mustard
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, gently shred the imitation crab sticks along their natural grain. Using a generous amount of crab meat will make your inari sushi much richer and tastier.
Step 2
If you’re using pre-seasoned inari tofu pouches, gently squeeze out any excess liquid from inside the pouches. While making the seasoned tofu from scratch is ideal, nowadays commercially available inari pouches are of excellent quality, making them a convenient choice and saving you effort.
Step 3
If using Korean green chili peppers, cut them in half, remove the seeds, and mince them very finely. The chili peppers add a pleasant, slightly spicy zest that enhances the overall flavor of the sushi. If children dislike spicy food, you can substitute them with finely chopped vegetables like cucumber, carrot, or bell pepper.
Step 4
In a bowl, combine the shredded imitation crab meat, minced green chili peppers, mayonnaise, and honey mustard.
Step 5
Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until well combined. While mixing, taste the mixture and adjust the amount of mayonnaise or honey mustard to your preference for the perfect balance of flavors.
Step 6
In the warm cooked rice, add the furikake (or sushi seasoning provided with the inari) and the sushi vinegar. Gently mix with a rice paddle, being careful not to mash the rice grains, to create the sushi rice base. Ensure each grain is evenly coated with the seasoning.
Step 7
Fill each inari tofu pouch about two-thirds full with the seasoned sushi rice. Then, generously top with the prepared crab mixture. Gently press down to secure the filling.
