Makes about 10 pieces

  • Condensed milk 60g
  • Cocoa powder 30g
  • Cocoa powder for coating 1/2~1 Tbsp (or powdered sugar, matcha powder, etc.)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, gather your ingredients. You’ll need 60g of condensed milk and 30g of cocoa powder. For the outer coating, prepare 1/2 to 1 Tbsp of cocoa powder. Feel free to substitute this with powdered sugar or matcha powder for a different flavor and color – get creative!

Step 1

Step 2

Place the cold condensed milk (60g) in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat it in the microwave for 10 seconds, then another 10 seconds (based on a 700W microwave). You want it slightly warm, not hot, so avoid overheating. Short intervals are key.

Step 2

Step 3

Sift the 30g of cocoa powder into the slightly warmed condensed milk. Gradually add the cocoa powder while stirring gently with a spatula or spoon. It might seem difficult to mix at first, but keep stirring slowly until a smooth, thick mixture forms.

Step 3

Step 4

Continue mixing until the ingredients come together into a cohesive dough. It might seem crumbly initially, but press down firmly with the spatula, scraping the sides and bottom of the bowl, to help it form a single lump. Patience is a virtue here!

Step 4

Step 5

Transfer the dough to a piece of plastic wrap or a zip-top bag. Shape it into a log or a desired form. Once shaped, place it in the freezer for about 10-15 minutes to firm up. You’re not aiming for it to be rock solid, but firm enough to handle easily.

Step 5

Step 6

Remove the chilled dough from the freezer while still in the plastic wrap or bag. This makes it easier to handle and prevents sticking. If the dough is too cold and hard to work with, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften slightly.

Step 6

Step 7

Divide the log of dough into approximately 10 equal portions. For perfectly uniform chocolates, you can weigh each portion. Otherwise, dividing by eye is perfectly fine for a rustic charm!

Step 7

Step 8

Roll each portion into a ball or shape it into your desired chocolate form using your hands. You’ll notice that at this stage, the dough is not sticky and won’t transfer to your hands, making shaping a clean process.

Step 8

Step 9

Prepare a shallow plate with the sifted cocoa powder (or your chosen coating powder). Gently roll each shaped chocolate in the powder, ensuring an even coating. This adds visual appeal and another layer of flavor.

Step 9

Step 10

Lightly dust off any excess powder. Your delicious condensed milk chocolates are now ready! Place them in a decorative box or an airtight container for storage. They taste best when chilled, so refrigerate them before serving for a firmer texture. Enjoy your delightful creations!
