Main Ingredients

  • 100g Silken Tofu
  • 100g Ground Pork
  • 1/2 Onion (small)
  • 1/2 Green Onion

Spicy Seasoning

  • 1 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean Chili Powder)
  • 1 Tbsp Doenjang (Fermented Soybean Paste)
  • 1 Tbsp Low-Sugar Oyster Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Allulose (adjust to taste)
  • 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
  • 0.5 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 200ml Water

Garnish (Optional)

  • Sesame Seeds, a pinch

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare your ingredients. Finely chop the green onion. Cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes, about 1.5-2cm. Slice the onion thinly or chop it finely. Having all ingredients prepped makes the cooking process much smoother.

Step 2

Heat 1-2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, green onion, and ground pork. Sprinkle with a little black pepper to remove any pork odor. Stir-fry the ingredients evenly with a spatula or spoon until the onion becomes translucent and the pork is no longer pink. Cook until browned for extra flavor.

Step 3

Once the pork is cooked through, add all the prepared seasoning ingredients: gochugaru, doenjang, low-sugar oyster sauce, allulose, minced garlic, and soy sauce. Stir quickly to combine. Pour in 200ml of water and bring to a boil over high heat, allowing the sauce to bubble and meld with the ingredients. Let it simmer until the sauce starts to thicken slightly.

Step 4

When the sauce is boiling, gently add the cubed tofu to the pan. Stir carefully to avoid breaking the tofu. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for about 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce is reduced and has coated the tofu beautifully. The tofu should absorb the flavors and become tender and moist.

Step 5

Serve hot! Spoon the delicious Mapo Tofu generously over a bowl of warm rice. Sprinkle with sesame seeds for a nutty aroma and added texture. Your healthy and flavorful Mapo Tofu rice bowl is now complete. Enjoy immediately while it’s warm!
