Easy Homemade Ham & Cheese Egg Toast Recipe
Inspired by a delicious ham and cheese egg toast I tried at Paris Baguette, I decided to recreate it at home. This toast is packed with flavorful ingredients, making it a satisfying meal that the whole family will enjoy. Get ready to experience a special taste with simple ingredients!
Ingredients- 8 slices of bread
- 5 eggs
- 3 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 5 slices of cheddar cheese
- Salt to taste
- 8 slices of ham
- Ketchup
- Mozzarella cheese
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s boil the eggs. I’m preparing them in advance as they’re great for snacks too. Boil the eggs for about 10 minutes after the water starts boiling to achieve a perfectly hard-boiled consistency.
Step 2
While the boiled eggs are still warm, peel them and mash them using a fork. It’s much easier to mash them while they’re warm; once they cool down, they can become difficult to mash. Mash them thoroughly.
Step 3
Add 1 slice of cheddar cheese to the mashed eggs and continue mashing until well combined. The cheddar cheese will add a lovely richness and creaminess to the egg mixture.
Step 4
Add 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise and mix well. If you prefer a less rich flavor, feel free to reduce the mayonnaise to 2 tablespoons. Season with 1/2 teaspoon of salt (or to taste) and mix everything together until smooth.
Step 5
Spread a generous layer of the prepared egg mixture onto one side of a slice of bread. Make sure it’s not too thin, as a slightly thicker layer will provide a better texture.
Step 6
On top of the egg mixture, place 2 slices of ham, followed by 1 slice of cheddar cheese. The combination of ham and cheese creates a wonderful savory flavor.
Step 7
Thinly spread ketchup on one side of another slice of bread, which will serve as the top of the toast. The tangy ketchup complements the richness of the other ingredients. Then, place this slice on top of the layered ham and cheese.
Step 8
Cut the toast diagonally in half to create neat triangles. While delicious as is, we’ll bake it for an extra crispy and gooey finish. Sprinkle a generous amount of mozzarella cheese on top of each toast triangle. If you have parsley flakes, sprinkle them on for a touch of color and aroma.
Step 9
Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C (340°F) for 10 minutes. The bread will turn golden brown and crispy, and the mozzarella cheese will melt beautifully. Enjoy your warm, delicious toast!
