Essential Ingredients- 1 bowl of warm rice (approx. 200g)
- 3 large eggs
- 1 slice cheddar cheese
- 10g unsalted butter (approx. 1/2 Tbsp)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, crack the 3 eggs into a prepared bowl. Remove the chalaza (the white stringy bits) and gently beat them with a fork or chopsticks until the yolks and whites are just combined. Avoid over-beating; a light mix will result in a softer egg texture.
Step 2
Heat a non-stick pan over medium-low heat, then add the 10g of butter. Allow the butter to melt, being careful not to burn it. Once melted, swirl the pan to coat the bottom evenly.

Before making the scrambled eggs, place 1 bowl of warm rice into your serving bowl, arranging it nicely. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of soy sauce evenly over the rice. If you don’t have seasoned soy sauce (mat-ganjang), regular dark soy sauce or light soy sauce will work perfectly. For extra flavor, you can add a little sesame oil or black pepper at this stage.

Next, place the slice of cheddar cheese evenly over the soy sauce-seasoned rice. You can use a mix of different cheeses if you like, but sliced cheddar melts beautifully and adds a mild, savory creaminess. If you prefer a stringier texture, feel free to use shredded mozzarella or pizza cheese.

Pour the beaten eggs into the buttered pan. Keep the heat on low. Cook the eggs, gently stirring to prevent them from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
