- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
Simple Soy Dipping Sauce- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 0.5 ~ 1 Tbsp vinegar (adjust to your sourness preference)
- 0.5 ~ 1 Tbsp oligosaccharide (adjust to your sweetness preference)
- 4 ~ 5 Tbsp water
- 0.5 Tbsp red pepper flakes (gochugaru)
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 0.5 ~ 1 Tbsp vinegar (adjust to your sourness preference)
- 0.5 ~ 1 Tbsp oligosaccharide (adjust to your sweetness preference)
- 4 ~ 5 Tbsp water
- 0.5 Tbsp red pepper flakes (gochugaru)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
We’re using store-bought frozen dumplings. No need to thaw them beforehand; they can be cooked directly from frozen.
Step 2
For the dipping sauce, feel free to adjust the amounts of soy sauce, vinegar, and oligosaccharide to match your personal preference for sweet, sour, and salty tastes. It’s a good idea to follow the recipe initially and then tweak it to your liking next time.
Step 3
Fill a pot with enough water to fully submerge the dumplings and bring it to a boil over high heat. Once the water is boiling, carefully add the frozen dumplings. The cooking time can vary slightly depending on the brand, so it’s best to refer to the package instructions. Most dumplings cook through in about 3 to 4 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent them from sticking together.
Step 4
The secret to making your boiled dumplings extra delicious is a touch of sesame oil! Once the dumplings are cooked and the water returns to a boil, turn off the heat. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of sesame oil into the pot and gently mix it with the dumplings.
Step 5
Adding sesame oil at the end coats the surface of the dumplings as they are drained. This imparts a subtle, nutty flavor that isn’t overpowering and adds a wonderful richness. It also helps keep the dumplings moist and prevents them from becoming dry.
Step 6
Arrange the perfectly boiled dumplings nicely in a serving bowl. Drizzle generously with the delicious soy dipping sauce you prepared and sprinkle with chopped scallions. Your homemade boiled dumplings will rival those from your favorite restaurant!
