Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare all your ingredients. Wash what needs washing and measure everything out. We have beef brisket, sea purslane, and pasta – each bringing its distinct character to the dish. Tip: While the pasta and brisket amounts might seem small for a single serving, the sea purslane adds a satisfying fullness, making it a well-balanced meal. Feel free to adjust the quantities based on your appetite.
Step 2
Since this dish involves arranging multiple components attractively on one plate, timing is crucial to ensure everything is served warm. Thoroughly wash the sea purslane under running water and drain it well in a colander. Maintaining its crisp texture is key.
Step 3
To cook the pasta, bring about 1 liter of water to a boil in a pot. Using a wide pot, like one for shabu-shabu, makes it easier to ensure the pasta is fully submerged and cooks evenly. Once the water is at a rolling boil, add the pasta. While the pasta cooks, we’ll prepare the other ingredients. Tip: Pasta cooking times vary by type, so check the package instructions for the recommended duration. You can add a pinch of salt to the boiling water for flavor, but it’s not essential as the final seasoning will be adjusted when stir-frying.
Step 4
While the pasta is cooking, combine all the sauce ingredients in a small bowl and mix them together. Having the sauce pre-mixed will significantly speed up the stir-frying process, preventing the pasta from overcooking.
Step 5
Now, let’s start stir-frying. Heat a pan over medium heat and add a generous amount of olive oil. Add the thinly sliced garlic and onion, and sauté until fragrant, infusing the oil with their aroma. Tip: If you’re not fond of the distinct flavor of olive oil, feel free to use a neutral cooking oil instead.
Step 6
Once the garlic is lightly golden, add the cooked pasta to the pan. Stir-fry it briefly to coat the noodles in the oil. Then, add a generous amount of crushed red pepper for a touch of heat. This completes the pasta component. Carefully arrange the cooked pasta in the center of your serving plate, perhaps twirling it with chopsticks for a neat presentation.
Step 7
Next, cook the beef brisket. You can use the same pan used for the pasta, or a clean one. Heat the pan over medium heat and add the brisket. Since brisket is quite fatty, you won’t need to add extra oil.
Step 8
When the brisket is about halfway cooked, pour in the prepared sauce. Adding the sauce too early can cause it to burn or become too salty if it reduces too much. It’s best to add it when the meat is partially cooked.
Step 9
Once the brisket is fully cooked, place it on the plate next to the pasta you’ve already arranged. This forms the main elements of your dish.
Step 10
This step is crucial! Notice the remaining sauce in the pan after cooking the brisket. Return the pan to low heat, add the prepared sea purslane, and toss gently for about 10 seconds, just enough to coat it with the sauce. This quick sautéing will wilt the sea purslane slightly while infusing it with the delicious residual sauce, adding a wonderful flavor and maintaining a pleasant texture.
Step 11
Finally, assemble all the components for a beautiful presentation. Layer the pasta, then the brisket, and top it off with the lightly sautéed sea purslane. Your nutritious Brisket Pasta is now complete! The simple yet elegant plating looks incredibly appetizing. ^^ This well-balanced dish, featuring pasta, brisket, and sea purslane, is sure to boost your energy! Give it a try and enjoy a healthy and delicious meal! ^^
