Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the vegetables that form the base of our fried rice. Peel the onion and finely chop it into approximately 5mm pieces. Chopping them this small helps their natural sweetness to infuse well during cooking.
Step 2
Wash and peel the potatoes, then dice them into small cubes, about 5mm in size, similar to the onion. Cutting the potatoes small ensures they cook through tenderly and blend nicely with the rice.
Step 3
For the zucchini or squash, trim off the ends. If there are many seeds, gently scoop them out. Then, dice them into small pieces, about 5mm, just like the potatoes.
Step 4
Frankfurters will add a beloved texture and flavor, especially for kids. Slice them into rounds about 5mm thick, or cut them into any shape you prefer. It’s best to cut them into pieces that won’t disintegrate too much when stir-fried.
Step 5
Now, let’s start stir-frying! Heat a pan over medium heat and add a little cooking oil. Add the chopped onion, potatoes, zucchini, and sliced frankfurters. Stir-fry for about 3-5 minutes until the vegetables become translucent and slightly golden. Seasoning with a pinch of salt and pepper at this stage helps to bring out the natural flavors of the ingredients.
Step 6
Once the vegetables and sausage are partially cooked, add the 2 bowls of warm rice. Use a spatula to break up any clumps of rice and stir-fry until each grain is coated with oil. This step is crucial for achieving a good texture. Finally, add 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce and stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until everything is well combined. Your delicious fried rice is ready! For an extra touch, you can top it with some crumbled seaweed or sesame seeds.
