Main Ingredients- 1 pack Santari mushrooms (approx. 200g)
- 1 onion (medium size)
- 200ml water
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
Seasoning Ingredients- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 2 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 Tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 2 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 Tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Gather all your ingredients for the mushroom rice bowl. You’ll need 1 pack of Santari mushrooms, 1 medium onion, 200ml of water, 1 tablespoon of cooking oil, 1 tablespoon of minced garlic, 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce, and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch for thickening (this can be omitted or adjusted as needed).
Step 2
Peel the onion, wash it thoroughly, and then slice it into bite-sized pieces. You can either thinly slice it into strips or dice it coarsely, depending on your preference.
Step 3
Prepare the Santari mushrooms by trimming off any tough stems. Then, gently tear the mushrooms into bite-sized pieces by hand. This natural tearing enhances their wonderfully chewy texture.
Step 4
Heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sliced onion. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
Step 5
Once the onions are nicely softened and aromatic, add the torn Santari mushrooms to the skillet. Stir-fry them with the onions until the mushrooms begin to wilt slightly. Ensure they are evenly distributed in the pan.
Step 6
Pour in the 200ml of water. Gently scrape the bottom of the pan to incorporate any flavorful bits that may have stuck during sautéing.
Step 7
Add the 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce and stir well to combine everything. Allow the mixture to simmer for a moment, letting the rich umami flavor of the oyster sauce infuse into the mushrooms and onions.
Step 8
To achieve a desired consistency, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water in a small bowl until smooth. Gradually pour this slurry into the simmering mushroom mixture while stirring constantly to prevent lumps. Continue to cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens to your liking.
Step 9
Serve the delicious Santari mushroom topping generously over a bowl of hot steamed rice. This completes your satisfying and healthy mushroom rice bowl. For extra flavor, consider garnishing with shredded seaweed or sesame seeds.
