This is Rabokki made with Baek Jong Won’s Tteokbokki recipe, essentially Tteokbokki without the rice cakes. It’s a convenient and delicious dish focused on noodles and fish cakes, perfect for busy days or when you crave a quick, flavorful meal.

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups Odeng (fish cakes), cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 pack Instant Noodles (choose your favorite brand)
  • 1 bunch Green Onions, cut into large pieces
  • 1-2 Eggs (optional, hard-boiled)
  • 1-2 Hot Dogs (optional, sliced)

Seasoning Sauce

  • 1.5 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1.5 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
  • 1.5 Tbsp Jin Ganjang (Korean soy sauce)
  • 1.5 Tbsp Sugar (for sweetness)
  • Pinch of Black Pepper (for garnish)

Cooking Instructions

1. Prepare Ingredients: Cut the fish cakes into bite-sized pieces (about 2cm thick). Set aside the noodle seasoning packet. Chop the green onions into large, 5cm pieces. If using optional ingredients, hard-boil the eggs and peel them, and slice the hot dogs.

2. Mix and Boil Sauce: In a pot or wide pan, add 300ml of water. Add the prepared fish cakes and green onions. Then, stir in all the seasoning sauce ingredients: 1.5 Tbsp Gochujang, 1.5 Tbsp Gochugaru, 1.5 Tbsp Jin Ganjang, and 1.5 Tbsp Sugar. Stir well until the sauce is fully dissolved in the water. Bring to a boil over high heat.

3. Add and Cook Noodles: Once the broth starts boiling, add 1 pack of instant noodles. Gently stir the noodles to separate them as they cook. (If adding optional hot dogs, add them at this stage.)

4. Finish and Serve: When the noodles are tender and cooked through, your Rabokki is ready! (If adding optional hard-boiled eggs, add them just before turning off the heat.) Transfer the finished Rabokki to a serving bowl.

5. Garnish with Pepper: Finally, sprinkle a pinch of black pepper over the Rabokki to enhance its aroma and flavor. Enjoy your delicious meal!
