Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s start by preparing all our ingredients! Wash and julienne the cucumber, cabbage, and purple cabbage. Have your hard-boiled or baked egg ready.
Step 2
Egg Tip: If boiling eggs feels like too much work, using pre-baked eggs (often made conveniently in a rice cooker) adds a delightful twist and saves time.
Step 3
Now, it’s time to cook the Jjolmyeon noodles. Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil. Add the Jjolmyeon noodles and gently stir with chopsticks to prevent them from sticking together. Cook for about 5 minutes until they are pliable. Immediately rinse the noodles under cold running water several times to remove excess starch – this is key for that signature chewy texture! Drain them thoroughly in a colander.
Step 4
Time to make the star of the show: the Jjolmyeon sauce! In a mixing bowl, combine the gochujang, gochugaru, minced garlic, cola, soy sauce, vinegar, oligosaccharide, plum extract, onion juice, sesame oil, and sesame seeds. Whisk everything together until well combined and smooth. Your delicious sauce is ready!
Step 5
In a serving bowl, arrange the drained Jjolmyeon noodles. Spoon your desired amount of the homemade sauce over the noodles and gently toss to coat every strand evenly.
Step 6
Finally, garnish your Jjolmyeon with the julienned cucumber, cabbage, and purple cabbage. Top with the prepared egg. Your refreshing, tangy, and spicy homemade Jjolmyeon is complete! Enjoy your delightful summer meal!
