Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Start by preparing the sauce. Pour a generous amount of olive oil into a pan and gently sauté thinly sliced garlic over low heat until fragrant. Once the garlic aroma is released, add the sliced onion and stir-fry until translucent. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
Step 2
Prepare the shrimp by removing the shells, heads, and tails. Devein them by making a slit along the back. Making a lengthwise cut on the back also helps them cook beautifully and absorb sauce better. Drizzle a splash of cooking alcohol over the prepared shrimp to eliminate any fishy odor.
Step 3
Once the sauce is well underway, it’s time to cook the rice spaghetti. Bring a pot of water to a boil, add a pinch of salt, and carefully place the rice spaghetti noodles into the water. Rice spaghetti cooks much faster than regular spaghetti, so be sure to watch the time carefully!
Step 4
Because rice spaghetti cooks very quickly, almost like fresh pasta, gently loosen the noodles with chopsticks or tongs as soon as they are in the boiling water and cook for about 10 seconds only. To prevent them from becoming mushy, using a timer is highly recommended.
Step 5
After 10 seconds, quickly remove the noodles. Do not rinse them with cold water; have them ready for immediate use. This step is crucial for preserving the delightful chewy texture of the rice spaghetti.
Step 6
On a separate burner, heat the jarred tomato spaghetti sauce in a pan. Add the prepared shrimp to the sauce and stir well to cook. The sauce is ready once the shrimp turns pink and is cooked through.
Step 7
Finally, add the cooked rice spaghetti noodles to the pan with the tomato sauce and toss quickly to combine. Sauté for about another minute, stirring continuously, to allow the noodles to fully absorb the sauce. Season with salt to your taste, sprinkle with coarsely ground black pepper, and your delicious tomato pasta is complete!
