Crispy Outside, Chewy Inside! Super Easy Air Fryer Grilled Garaetteok Recipe
Delicious Grilled Garaetteok Made with an Air Fryer
Even hard, frozen garaetteok (Korean rice cake sticks) transform into a delicious snack with crispy golden exteriors and chewy interiors using just an air fryer! It’s incredibly tasty with just a drizzle of honey, no special ingredients needed. Highly recommended for kids’ snacks or simple home party appetizers!
Key Ingredients- 1 block of Garaetteok (Korean rice cake sticks, frozen or room temperature)
- A little honey or corn syrup (for dipping)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
We’re going to grill the garaetteok in the air fryer! If you’re using frozen garaetteok, you can take it out beforehand, or use it directly while still frozen and hard. If the garaetteok is too long, cut it into bite-sized pieces. Arrange the garaetteok sticks in the air fryer basket, making sure they don’t overlap. (Overlapping can lead to uneven cooking.)
Step 2
Set the air fryer temperature to 180℃ (350°F) and cook for about 20 minutes in total. It’s a good idea to check on the garaetteok midway to prevent burning. After about 10 minutes, you can flip the garaetteok to ensure they cook evenly on all sides.
Step 3
After about 20 minutes of cooking, the surface of the garaetteok will turn golden brown and a delicious aroma will fill the air. If you prefer a crispier texture, you can cook them for an additional 2-3 minutes. However, be careful not to overcook, as they can become too hard!
Step 4
Voila! Here is your perfectly grilled garaetteok, with a tempting golden-brown exterior and a wonderfully chewy interior. It’s best enjoyed warm and steamy right after cooking. For an extra touch of sweetness, dip them in honey or corn syrup according to your preference to enjoy an even more delightful flavor.
