Chilled Dumpling Ramen: The Perfect Summer Dish!
Baek Jong-won’s Recipe, My Way: Super Simple Chilled Dumpling Ramen
Introducing a ‘Chilled Dumpling Ramen’ recipe that’s perfect for those sweltering summer days when you crave something cool and refreshing. Inspired by a popular recipe video, I’ve adapted it to suit my taste. If you love ramen, you’re sure to enjoy this! I’ve added a generous handful of crisp bean sprouts instead of soybean sprouts and included a homemade dumpling for extra heartiness. This recipe is incredibly simple, ready in under 10 minutes, though cooking the frozen dumpling took a little longer. But the taste? It was absolutely worth it! I was surprised by how delicious it turned out. The subtle soy sauce aroma added at the end truly enhanced the flavor. It might be the hunger, but I devoured it quickly! Try this Chilled Dumpling Ramen, which has a familiar yet unique taste, and beat the summer heat. Wishing you a happy and smiling day!
Main Ingredients- 1 pack Ramen (choose your favorite brand)
- 1 handful fresh Bean Sprouts (washed thoroughly)
- 1/2 Onion (thinly sliced)
- 1/2 Hard-boiled Egg (halved)
- 1 Dumpling (homemade or store-bought, choose your preferred filling)
- A little Green Onion (chopped, for garnish)
- Ice cubes (to make it extra chilled)
Chilled Broth Seasoning- 1 cup Cold Water
- A little Hot Water (to dissolve the soup base)
- 1 packet Ramen Soup Base
- 1/2 tsp Soy Sauce (for added depth)
- 1 cup Cold Water
- A little Hot Water (to dissolve the soup base)
- 1 packet Ramen Soup Base
- 1/2 tsp Soy Sauce (for added depth)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the chilled broth for our Chilled Dumpling Ramen. In 1 cup of cold water, add the ramen soup base. To help it dissolve smoothly, add a tiny bit of hot water and stir well. Then, add 1/2 teaspoon of soy sauce for an extra touch of umami. Place this broth in the refrigerator to chill thoroughly.
Step 2
Next, bring a pot of water to a rolling boil. This water will be used to cook the dumplings.
Step 3
While the water is heating up, thinly slice half an onion. Slicing it thinly will ensure it cooks quickly and retains a pleasant crispness.
Step 4
Once the water is boiling vigorously, carefully add 1 dumpling and cook until it floats to the surface, indicating it’s done. Gently remove the cooked dumpling and set it aside. (If using frozen dumplings, refer to the package instructions for cooking time.)
Step 5
Into the same boiling water, add 1 pack of ramen noodles and cook according to the package directions. Towards the end of the cooking time, add the thinly sliced onions and the washed bean sprouts. Cook them briefly with the noodles to keep them crisp.
Step 6
Drain the cooked noodles, bean sprouts, and onions under cold running water. This helps to remove excess heat, making the noodles firm and ensuring the final dish is refreshingly cold. Drain them well.
Step 7
Assemble your ramen. Pour the chilled broth into a serving bowl. Add the cold-rinsed noodles, bean sprouts, and onions. Place the cooked dumpling attractively on top. Garnish with the halved hard-boiled egg and chopped green onions. For an extra frosty touch, add a few ice cubes.
Step 8
Your refreshing Chilled Dumpling Ramen is ready to be enjoyed! Serve immediately. This is a delightful and quick meal for hot summer days when you’re looking for something cool and satisfying.
