How to Make Red Bean Milk Bingsu Without an Ice Shaver (Using a Ziploc Bag!)
When it’s hot, nothing beats bingsu! You can whip up delicious milk bingsu in no time with just a Ziploc bag, no ice shaver needed. This method doesn’t even require a separate blender, making it accessible for anyone to create café-quality milk bingsu at home.
For the Bingsu Base- 250ml Fresh Milk
- 3 Tbsp Sweet Condensed Milk
- 2 Tbsp Roasted Soybean Powder (Injeolmi powder)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First things first, we need to freeze the milk that will form the base of our delicious bingsu. Prepare 250ml of fresh milk and a sturdy Ziploc bag. If you have an ice shaver, you could use that, but today we’re focusing on making milk bingsu without one, so we’ll be using a Ziploc bag!
Step 2
Fill the Ziploc bag with about one-third to half of the milk. To make it extra delicious, don’t just add plain milk; squeeze in about 2-3 tablespoons of condensed milk as well. Mixing them together beforehand ensures a richer flavor in your finished bingsu.
Step 3
When freezing the milk, it’s best to spread it thinly in the Ziploc bag. While a thicker block will freeze, it’s much easier to break apart when it’s spread out. You can also place the Ziploc bag on a cutting board to help flatten it as it freezes.
Step 4
To prevent any potential leaks, I double-bagged the milk before freezing. This gives me extra peace of mind when storing it in the freezer.
Step 5
While the milk is freezing, let’s get our toppings ready. Prepare the roasted soybean powder, mochi, canned fruits, and red bean paste. Have everything you’d like to add ready.
Step 6
Once the milk is frozen, it’s time to break it up. If you froze it thinly, a little time at room temperature and some squeezing will do the trick. Since mine was frozen a bit thicker, I used a rubber mallet to break it up enthusiastically! Patience can take a backseat when you’re craving bingsu.
Step 7
The broken milk ice is already delicious on its own, but wouldn’t it be even better to make it a more spectacular dessert?
Step 8
Scoop the broken milk ice into a nice serving bowl.
Step 9
Drizzle generously with condensed milk and top with the canned fruits you prepared. The addition of fruity flavors will make it even more delightful.
Step 10
Next, add a spoonful of sweet red bean paste, a classic bingsu topping, and artfully arrange the chewy mochi pieces.
Step 11
Finally, sprinkle the roasted soybean powder over the top for a nutty aroma. When I first made it, I added various toppings, but personally, I found the milk bingsu with just condensed milk, soybean powder, and mochi to be the most delicious. Feel free to customize it to your liking!
Step 12
This homemade milk bingsu is nutty, refreshing, and rivals anything you’d get at famous bingsu cafés. It’s truly amazing how easily you can make such a wonderful milk bingsu at home without any special equipment. You’ll be so impressed! Definitely give it a try!
