Main Ingredients

  • 3 handfuls of fresh bean sprouts (approx. 300g)
  • 1 stalk of green onion (finely chopped)
  • 2/3 Tbsp salt (for seasoning)
  • 1 Tbsp soup soy sauce (for umami)
  • 0.5 Tbsp minced garlic (for flavor enhancement)
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil (for nutty aroma)
  • 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, rinse the fresh bean sprouts thoroughly under running water to clean them. Make sure to wash them carefully to remove any dirt or debris, then lightly drain before setting aside.

Step 1

Step 2

Fill a pot with plenty of water and add a pinch of salt. Boiling the bean sprouts in salted water helps to maintain their crisp texture.

Step 2

Step 3

Finely chop the green onion, using both the white and green parts. The refreshing aroma of the green onion will enhance the flavor of the seasoned sprouts.

Step 3

Step 4

Once the water comes to a rolling boil, add the prepared bean sprouts and blanch them for a short period of just 1 minute and 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Overcooking will diminish their crispiness, so precise timing is crucial.

Step 4

Step 5

Immediately after blanching, transfer the bean sprouts to cold running water to rinse. This rapid cooling stops the cooking process from residual heat, preserving their satisfying crunch.

Step 5

Step 6

Gently press the rinsed bean sprouts with your hands to squeeze out excess water. Be careful not to wring them too tightly, as this can impart a raw flavor. Combine the drained bean sprouts with the chopped green onion, soup soy sauce, minced garlic, sesame oil, and toasted sesame seeds. Gently mix everything together with your hands until well combined. Taste and add more salt if needed to achieve your desired flavor. Enjoy your delicious seasoned bean sprouts!
