Savory Radish Salad with Beef
Radish Salad Recipe: A Delicious Side Dish with Beef
Enjoy the delightful crisp-tender texture of this radish salad, elevated with the addition of savory beef! The natural sweetness of the radish combined with the rich flavor of the beef makes it incredibly satisfying. It’s a fantastic banchan (side dish) that’s perfect for everyday meals, and addictive enough to snack on by itself. (Referenced from ‘Sumine Banchan’ recipe)
Ingredients- 500g Korean radish (mu)
- 150g Beef (tenderloin or thinly sliced for bulgogi)
- 10cm green part of scallion, thinly sliced on an angle
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 1g dried chili threads (optional, for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, peel the Korean radish and slice it into thin matchsticks. Aim for consistent, thin strips for the best texture when cooked.
Step 2
Similarly, thinly slice the beef into matchsticks, matching the thickness of the radish. This ensures the meat and radish integrate well in the dish.
Step 3
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced beef and cook until it’s about 80% done. Be careful not to overcook it, as it can become tough.
Step 4
Once the beef is partially cooked, push it to one side of the pan. Add the julienned radish to the empty space and stir-fry for about 1 minute. This lightly coats the radish in oil and helps bring out its natural sweetness.
Step 5
Now, add the minced garlic and salt. Mix everything together – the beef and radish – and continue to stir-fry for another 3 minutes, ensuring all ingredients are evenly combined.
Step 6
After 3 minutes of stir-frying, cover the pan with a lid and reduce the heat to low. Let it steam for 3-4 minutes. The goal is to cook the radish until it’s tender but still retains a slight, pleasant bite – ‘sal-kang’ texture.
Step 7
Finally, add the angled scallions, dried chili threads (if using), and sesame oil. Give it a quick toss to combine everything beautifully. Your delicious radish salad is now ready!
Step 8
This radish salad is delicious served warm, but it’s even more delightful when cooled and served chilled. The coolness enhances the radish’s refreshing flavor and crisp texture. Enjoy!
