Main Ingredients- 1 pack fresh button mushrooms (approx. 200-250g)
- 1/2 medium onion
- 1/3 medium carrot
Seasoning & Garnish- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce (generous)
- A pinch of sesame seeds
- A sprinkle of parsley flakes (optional)
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce (generous)
- A pinch of sesame seeds
- A sprinkle of parsley flakes (optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare 1 pack of fresh button mushrooms, the star ingredient. Using fresh mushrooms will result in a richer texture and aroma.
Step 2
Slice the button mushrooms into bite-sized pieces, about 0.5 cm thick. Avoid slicing them too thinly, as they might break apart during stir-frying.
Step 3
Lightly rinse the sliced mushrooms under running water, then drain them thoroughly in a colander. Excess water can make the stir-fry soggy.
Step 4
Peel and wash the 1/2 onion, then finely dice it to a similar thickness as the mushrooms. Diced onion adds sweetness and depth of flavor when cooked.
Step 5
Wash and peel the 1/3 carrot, then julienne it into thin strips. Carrots add vibrant color and a pleasant crunch.
Step 6
Heat 1-2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the prepared button mushrooms and stir-fry until they soften and become slightly translucent, releasing some moisture.
Step 7
Once the mushrooms start to soften, add the diced onion and julienned carrot to the pan. Pour in 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce generously and stir-fry until all ingredients are well combined and coated.
Step 8
If your oyster sauce has a spicy component, adjust the amount accordingly based on your preference for heat. Regular oyster sauce adds umami and a touch of sweetness, enhancing the dish.
Step 9
When all the vegetables are tender and well coated with the oyster sauce, just before turning off the heat, sprinkle a good amount of sesame seeds for a nutty aroma.
Step 10
This step is an optional tip not in the original recipe. If you wish to add sausage, score it and pan-fry until golden brown, then serve it alongside the stir-fried mushrooms for a more substantial dish.
Step 11
Transfer the finished stir-fried mushrooms to a nice serving plate. A final sprinkle of parsley flakes will add a beautiful visual appeal, making your meal look even more appetizing.
Step 12
For an extra burst of nutty flavor, you can lightly crush the sesame seeds between your fingers before sprinkling them on top. Enjoy your delicious meal!
