- 3 fresh eggs
- 3 Tbsp milk (makes the eggs extra tender)
- 1 tsp salt (enhances the savory flavor of the eggs)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the vegetables that will bring flavor to your fried rice. Thoroughly wash and prepare them. Peel the onion and mince it very finely to release its aromatic essence.
Step 2
Similarly, finely mince the carrot. Minced carrots blend evenly with the rice and improve the overall texture.
Step 3
Chop the colorful bell pepper into small pieces after removing the seeds. Bell peppers will add a sweet aroma and a pleasant crunch to your fried rice.
Step 4
Cut the whole bacon strips into uniform pieces, about 1cm thick, for a satisfying bite. Layering the strips before cutting makes it easier.
Step 5
Now, it’s time to prepare the eggs for the omelet. Carefully crack 3 fresh eggs into a clean bowl.
Step 6
Add 3 tablespoons of milk to the eggs. This will make your omelet wonderfully tender and rich.
Step 7
Also, add 1 teaspoon of salt to enhance the eggs’ savory taste.
Step 8
Gently whisk the eggs, milk, and salt together with a whisk. You don’t need to whisk vigorously.
Step 9
Let’s start making the fried rice. Place a frying pan over low heat and let it warm up slightly. Be careful, as the pan can get hot quickly and burn the ingredients.
Step 10
Begin by adding the chopped bacon to the pan and cook until it’s golden brown, rendering its fat.
Step 11
Once the bacon is cooked, add the minced onion, carrot, and bell pepper. Sauté everything together until the vegetables soften and release their fragrant aroma.
Step 12
When the vegetables become translucent and tender, add the bowl of warm cooked rice.
Step 13
Using a spatula or spoon, gently break up any clumps of rice and stir-fry until the rice and vegetables are evenly combined.
Step 14
Once the rice and vegetables are well mixed, add 2 tablespoons of Tonkatsu sauce to bring out a savory depth and rich flavor in your fried rice.
Step 15
Continue to stir-fry until the Tonkatsu sauce coats every grain of rice and a glossy sheen appears. Your fried rice is ready!
Step 16
Now, let’s make the delicious omelet. Place a clean, separate frying pan over low heat. Add a small amount of cooking oil and thinly coat the pan’s surface.
Step 17
Ensure the pan is not too hot, then carefully pour in the prepared egg mixture. Swirl the pan to spread the egg thinly and evenly.
Step 18
Using chopsticks or a spatula, gently stir the eggs from the edges as they cook, much like making scrambled eggs. This technique will result in a softer omelet.
Step 19
When the egg is about 70-80% cooked and looks softly curdled, turn off the heat. If you cook it completely, it might break when transferring. Leaving it slightly moist will help it hold its shape. (You can also make a thin, crepe-like omelet.)
Step 20
Transfer the well-stir-fried rice onto a plate, shaping it nicely for presentation.
Step 21
Gently place the freshly made soft omelet on top of the rice, shaping it to cover the rice cozily.
Step 22
Finally, the highlight of Omurice! Drizzle 1 tablespoon of ketchup attractively over the top. Your delicious, beloved Omurice is now complete. Enjoy your meal!
